Some fun facts about me!
- I grew up in Cork city, the eldest child reared in both Irish and English.
- My younger brother contracted meningitis in hospital as a new born and his life profoundly influenced me –I like to think mostly positively. Ever since I knew that I was going to work with children – how they feel, think and behave and now I am.
- I have a deep sense of social justice and need to be of service – namely empowering others which informs the approach I take to being an inclusive, supportive, affirming presence and advocate for all peoples most especially in the lives of children, parents and families.
- When I’m not working you’ll find me out in nature and on or in the water, sea swimming, kayaking, snorkeling though scuba diving is reserved for warmer waters!
- I am an early morning riser I need that peace, followed by my daily yoga practice and some exercise. I delight in summertime sunrise swims. I switch gears in wintertime, still sea swim, enjoy a roaring fire whilst knitting, sewing, reading and catching up on movies!
- Good nutrition is central to my life. I eat gluten free, dairy free and sugar free foods. I love planning and preparing meals, inviting friends and family over to sit, eat, relax, laugh and make memories. If it's a "fine " day the outdoor fire will be lit with coats and blankets fast appearing.
- I value and need a spiritual practice. I am an independent celebrant - a Family Life Celebrant and Funeral Celebrant. This feeds and fuels my need to serve and interestingly links back to children and families.
- I believe there is a biological, ecological and spiritual shift occurring in parents, in our children and in our society. The core of this is compassion and an increasing expectation to have this value central in every connection we make each day.
- I’m big into spending time together making heart memories and photos over ‘stuff’ and am planning our next adventure whilst studying Spanish.
- I live in West Cork with my family including our rescue animas which at various times consisted of donkeys, goats, fish, rescue dogs, cats and hens. I am grateful and feel blessed to look out on the Atlantic Ocean every day.
